Since we last spoke with TAMKO Building Products (TAMKO) around 12 months ago, there have been several investments and innovations underway. As the leading provider of \u2018America\u2019s shingle,\u2019 TAMKO is well recognized for its rich history, core values, and quality products. In 2024, the business celebrated its 80th anniversary \u2013 a milestone achieved via three generations of dedicated family leadership and continued investment. We catch up with COO Jeffrey Beyer for an update on the last year or so, as well as plans for the company\u2019s future.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\u201cIt\u2019s been a transformative and fast-paced year at TAMKO, driven by our ongoing mission to support the success of residential roofing contractors,\u201d Jeffrey opens.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve made significant investments in teams, tools, and technologies that help contractors grow their businesses and help protect America\u2019s homes. A major part of this investment has been the development of dedicated departments focused exclusively on contractor engagement and support. We\u2019ve also added a Director of Contractor Engagement and established a department to provide white-glove service to our top-tier contractors.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve also continued to expand our TAMKO\u00ae Tech Stack, a suite of digital and marketing tools designed to improve efficiency for contractors. These include solutions that streamline project registration, enhance homeowner presentations, and deliver real-time access to promotional tools and assets. It\u2019s all part of our broader strategy to empower contractors with the technology, training, and resources they need to succeed.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Alongside these investments, TAMKO has seen strong market adoption of its ProLine\u00ae products, especially Titan XT\u00ae and StormFighter FLEX\u00ae shingles.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve made strategic expansions to our ProLine\u00ae manufacturing capabilities, ensuring contractors have access to the products they need, when they need them,\u201d Jeffrey elaborates.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOn the operations side, we\u2019ve implemented new AI and machine learning tools in our manufacturing processes, enhancing our ability to make real-time, data-driven decisions that reduce variation and improve quality.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Testament to the advanced technologies and field-proven performance of the StormFighter FLEX\u00ae and Titan XT\u00ae shingles, both innovations were recognized by Kantar, from a survey of 40,000 consumers, as Product of the Year for 2025 in the Home Solutions category and 2024 in the Home Protection category, respectively.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThese shingles are award-winning because they combine advanced technologies that meet real-world performance needs,\u201d Jeffrey says.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe design our products to perform under extreme conditions to protect homeowners while also making the installation process faster, easier, and more reliable for contractors. In terms of sustainability, TAMKO maintains a strong partnership with Northstar Clean Technologies (Northstar), a waste-to-value clean technology manufacturing company focused on the sustainable recovery and reprocessing of asphalt shingles.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNorthstar has developed a proprietary process for taking discarded shingles that would have gone into landfills and reprocesses the shingles into raw materials for use in new shingles and other industrial applications,\u201d Jeffrey explains.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOur relationship with Northstar not only helps TAMKO make more sustainable shingles but also diversifies and adds resilience to our supply chain by diverting shingles from landfills. Northstar is planning to build its first US facility that will serve our site in Frederick, Maryland, and over the next three years, we expect Northstar to have several US facilities serving other TAMKO plants.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As our conversation closes, Jeffrey turns his attention to what\u2019s next for TAMKO. \u201cWe\u2019re entering the next chapter of our growth with a clear vision, a commitment to continuous improvement, and momentum that\u2019s been built through strategic investments, product innovation, and deepened contractor relationships,\u201d he states.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
