Headquartered in India, PCL serves major OEMs across continents, producing all types of camshafts since its\u00a0inception\u00a0in 1992.\u00a0Remaining\u00a0true to its Indian roots while expanding globally, the company continues to innovate, diversify, and lead in precision engineering.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cAfter leaving his family business that manufactured various automotive components for the Indian market, my father, Mr. Yatin Shah, founded PCL in 1992 with just a 1000-square-foot garage, a couple of machines, and five employees,\u201d recalls Karan Shah, Executive Director. \u201cHis research revealed a significant gap in the camshaft market \u2013 a\u00a0component\u00a0often referred to as the heart of the engine \u2013 as it\u00a0determines\u00a0how much air and fuel enter the engine and how much exhaust exits. At that time, India had only one other camshaft manufacturer, forcing most OEMs to rely on imports. Leveraging relationships from his earlier business, he began by producing about 600 camshafts per month. Fast-forward to today, PCL manufactures\u00a0nearly one\u00a0million camshafts every month and ranks among the top three camshaft manufacturers in the world.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-56235\" src=\"https:\/\/manufacturing-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/11\/Precision-Camshafts-241-body-image-1.jpg\" alt=\" a DAF CF Electric truck\" width=\"425\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/manufacturing-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/11\/Precision-Camshafts-241-body-image-1.jpg 425w, https:\/\/manufacturing-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/11\/Precision-Camshafts-241-body-image-1-300x212.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 425px) 100vw, 425px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Supplying most major automotive OEMs, PCL now caters to\u00a0nearly 70 percent\u00a0of India\u2019s passenger vehicle and tractor camshaft requirements, and about eight to nine percent of global passenger vehicle demand.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cOur first major milestone came in 2000 when we began exporting to Europe and the US,\u201d shares Karan. \u201cWe initially entered a joint venture with a UK-based company to manufacture in India and supply across Europe. PCL later\u00a0acquired\u00a0the UK partner\u2019s stake in 2006 \u2013 a turning point that enabled exponential growth.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cBetween 2012 and 2019, PCL\u00a0operated\u00a0joint ventures in China to support local customers, further expanding its international manufacturing presence. Today, PCL exports to markets worldwide, including Brazil, the US, Europe, Korea, Uzbekistan, and India, reinforcing its position as a truly global enterprise.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">When Karan joined the business, he spearheaded inorganic growth, steering PCL into new product lines and markets.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cOur first acquisition was MEMCO in India, which manufactures high-precision components like fuel injectors, brake parts, and instrumentation components. Since we\u00a0acquired\u00a0it in 2018, MEMCO\u2019s turnover has nearly doubled,\u201d he notes.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cNext came MFT, a German specialist in niche machined components such as balancer shafts, bearing caps, and engine brackets. The MFT acquisition helped us strengthen our machined parts portfolio and expand our European presence.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">PCL\u2019s entry into e-mobility came with the 2020 acquisition of EMOSS in the Netherlands, a pioneer in electric driveline solutions for heavy-duty vehicles. \u201cAt that time, EV conversions were still emerging,\u201d explains Karan. \u201cThrough EMOSS, we gained deep insights into the sector, and despite market challenges in Europe, we\u2019ve grown EMOSS nearly fivefold in the last five years.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Even as it diversifies, PCL continues to invest heavily in its core camshaft manufacturing. \u201cWe believe internal combustion engines will remain relevant for another decade or more,\u201d says Karan. \u201cWe\u2019ve just completed a 25-acre greenfield manufacturing plant and are investing $20 million in advanced automation and process technologies to further enhance productivity and precision.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">PCL today\u00a0operates\u00a014 manufacturing plants, including 12 in India, and is actively digitizing and automating its production systems. \u201cOur goal is to run end-to-end automated lines, minimizing human intervention while ensuring that our workforce grows with us,\u201d Karan adds.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-56236\" src=\"https:\/\/manufacturing-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/11\/Precision-Camshafts-241-body-image-2.jpg\" alt=\" Precision Camshafts Limited plant in Solapur, India\" width=\"425\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/manufacturing-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/11\/Precision-Camshafts-241-body-image-2.jpg 425w, https:\/\/manufacturing-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/11\/Precision-Camshafts-241-body-image-2-300x212.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 425px) 100vw, 425px\" \/>Solapur, where PCL is headquartered, is far from India\u2019s major automotive hubs.
